Studio 191 & The Cosmos – General Terms and Conditions

Updated: August 5, 2026

Article 1 – Definitions

The Studio comprises Studio 191 de Pijp B.V., Studio 191 West B.V., and The Cosmos B.V., founded and located in Amsterdam at Lutmastraat 191B, 1074TV, and Jan Hanzenstraat 54H, 1053ST and Douwes Dekkerstraat 30H, 1053SX respectively. Registered with the Chamber of Commerce under numbers 69832021, 69832013 and 69832242 respectively, operating under the trade names Studio 191 de Pijp, Studio 191 West, Studio 191 Oost, The Cosmos, The Cosmos West and The Cosmos de Pijp and hereinafter referred to as “The Studio.”

  • Guest(s): Any paying or non-paying participant of a Class, workshop, training, or other event hosted at or given by The Studio arriving directly through The Studio or via a third party (e.g., Urban Sports Club, WellHub, ClassPass, or any other partner).
  • Member(s): A Guest who has entered into a recurring subscription agreement (Membership) with The Studio for the provision of ongoing Classes.
  • Guest Agreement: The binding contract entered into by any Guest upon entering The Studio or attending a Class, which expressly includes The Studio Guest Liability Waiver.
  • Guest Conditions: These general terms and conditions, which are published on The Studio’s Website and provided upon the first request from a Guest.
  • Credit: The balance purchased by a Guest via the Website, Application, or on-site in The Studio for any Class cards or Memberships to book and/or attend a Class at a Studio 191 or The Cosmos location within the specified period.
  • Class: Any (individual or group) class, workshop, training, or other event given by or hosted at a Studio 191 location or The Cosmos.
  • Personal Data: All data provided by a Guest directly to The Studio.
  • Studio: Any studio operated by Studio 191 or The Cosmos, as shown on the Website.
  • Practice Room: Any location or room where a Class takes place within The Studio.
  • Participation Period: The period of time from the purchase of Credit within which a Guest has the right to participate in an appropriate Class, workshop, training, or other event given by or hosted at The Studio.
  • Website: The official website of The Studio (https://www.studio191.nl or www.the-cosmos.nl).

 

Article 2 – House Rules

2.1 It is the responsibility of each Guest to familiarize themselves with these Guest Conditions of The Studio.

2.2 The Studio reserves the right to limit the total number of registered Guests, as well as change the opening hours, Class times, Class styles, number of Classes, and pricing without prior notice.

2.3 The Studio reserves the right to refuse Guests in the case of misuse of the subscription system or The Studio facilities, or in the event of inappropriate behavior.

2.4 Wearing clean sportswear is mandatory. Wearing shoes in any Practice Room is strictly prohibited.

2.5 Grip socks are mandatory for every Reformer Class at The Studio. If a Guest does not have grip socks, they may be purchased at The Studio locations. Should a Guest lack grip socks for a scheduled Reformer Class and refuse to purchase or wear them, they will not be permitted to attend the Class and will not be eligible for a refund.

2.6 The use of a towel for every activity is mandatory.

2.7 All The Studio locations are smoke-free environments. Smoking is prohibited at all of The Studio locations.

2.8 Consuming self-brought drinks and/or food at The Studio is prohibited, with the exception of water in sealable plastic or reusable bottles.

2.9 The Studio reserves the right to close for entire or partial days on recognized holidays or during renovations.

2.10 Minors under 16 years of age are not permitted at The Studio, except when under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian (for example, during Baby + Me Classes) or with explicit written consent from The Studio personnel. Leaving children waiting in The Studio while a parent attends a Class is strictly prohibited. Minors under the age of 16 are not permitted to attend Classes independently. Any injury to minors or damage to their property due to unauthorized access to The Studio is at the individual’s own risk.

2.11 Pets are not allowed at The Studio locations.

 

Article 3 – Applicability

3.1 These Guest Conditions apply to all legal relationships between The Studio and a Guest who has purchased Credit, holds a Membership, and/or participates in a Class offered by The Studio.

3.2 By purchasing Credit, entering into a Membership, or participating in a Class, the Guest explicitly agrees to these Guest Conditions.

3.3 All provisions within these Guest Conditions are also drawn up for the benefit of all directors of The Studio and all persons employed by or contracted by The Studio.

3.4 Deviations from these Guest Conditions are valid only if expressly agreed upon in writing by the directors of The Studio.

3.5 The Studio retains the right to amend these Guest Conditions at any time. The latest version published on the Website is always the valid version. A copy of the Guest Conditions will be provided upon request. If an amendment materially disadvantages a Member, the Member retains the right to terminate their Membership effective from the date the new conditions apply.

 

Article 4 – Guests and Members

4.1 Guests will receive a login name and password for The Studio registration system, operated by BSPORT, during or immediately after registration. Guests are solely responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of their username and password.

4.2 The completed Guest Conditions constitute the full representation of the rights and obligations of The Studio and the Guest, superseding all prior written and oral announcements, agreements, and other correspondence.

4.3 The Guest shall ensure that all data indicated by The Studio as desirable, or which the Guest should reasonably understand as necessary for the performance of the Guest Agreement, is provided to The Studio in a timely and accurate manner.

4.4 An agreement between The Studio and a Guest consists of one or more Credits, which entitle the Guest to participate in a limited number of Classes during the Participation Period. Credits maintain a limited validity as indicated in the Guest’s account on the Website. Once a Credit has expired or has been consumed, a Guest may no longer register for a Class using those Credits.

4.5 In the event of severe injury, prolonged illness, pregnancy, or an extended stay abroad, the validity of a Credit or Membership may be suspended pending the written consent of The Studio. The Studio reserves the right to request valid medical or documentary evidence before granting a suspension request.

4.6 Credits automatically expire at the end of their designated validity period. Credits will not be automatically extended unless they are part of a recurring Membership subscription subject to rollover terms.

4.7 Should a Guest or Member decide to purchase a new or additional Membership with The Studio, the terms of these Guest Conditions will continue to apply in full unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.

 

Article 5 – Prices, Payment, and Consumer Rights

5.1 The current prices for singular Credits (Class Cards), collections of Credits, or Memberships are stated on the Website. The latest published prices are valid. Price increases will not affect previously purchased and valid Credits or Memberships.

5.2 Retail merchandise (unworn, unwashed, and appropriately labeled) may be returned within 14 days of purchase for a refund or The Studio store credit. All sale items and accessories, including but not limited to grip socks and sweatshirts, are final sale unless stated otherwise.

5.3 A valid receipt or proof of purchase must accompany the return to process any refund.

5.4 Unless otherwise agreed, payments must be made via the designated online payment system or on-site at The Studio. Credits, Memberships, and retail items must be paid in full in advance.

5.5 Right of Withdrawal (Cooling-off Period): In accordance with European Union and Dutch consumer law, Guests purchasing Credits or Memberships online possess a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. Guests may cancel their purchase without penalty within 14 days of the initial transaction. However, if the Guest actively books or participates in a Class within this 14-day period, they explicitly consent to the immediate commencement of the services and waive their right of withdrawal for the consumed portion of the purchase.

5.6 Outside of the statutory Right of Withdrawal, payments made by a Guest will not be refunded.

5.7 The Studio reserves the right to index and change its prices and rates without prior notice.

5.8 If the facilities of The Studio cannot be fully utilized due to circumstances beyond The Studio’s reasonable control (Force Majeure), the fees payable by the Guest will not be refunded.

5.9 No rights may be derived from promotions or special offers outside of their explicitly stated validity periods.

5.10 A Guest shall not redeem any Credit for cash, and a Class Credit cannot be transferred to another person without written permission from The Studio.

5.11 A Guest’s payment method will be charged at the time of purchasing the Credits or Membership, not at the time of booking individual Classes.

5.12 Introductory offers, promotions, and discount codes are restricted to one-time use per individual unless explicitly stated otherwise.

5.13 It is the individual responsibility of the Guest to monitor changes in pricing, the expiration of Credits, and standard rates after the conclusion of any introductory offers or discounted periods.

 

Article 6 – Bookings, Cancellations and Reservation Changes

Booking Requirements

6.1 To schedule a booking, a Guest must possess a valid Class Credit or Membership. To purchase Credits or Memberships online, a Guest must register an account on the Website or Application. Existing Guests must log in to their account to make purchases and bookings.

6.2 Classes and Credits carry specific expiration dates as detailed on the Website and Application. Future pricing is subject to change.

6.3 A Guest must sign up in advance for a Class through the designated online registration system, on-site at The Studio, or via approved third-party platforms (e.g., Urban Sports Club, ClassPass). Without an active, confirmed booking, a Guest has no right to participate in a Class.

Location Requirements

6.4 Guests must ensure they are selecting the intended Studio location when booking. Booking at one location and arriving at another is strictly prohibited and constitutes an invalid booking. Guests arriving at an incorrect location do not have the right to attend a Class there.

Cancellation Policies

6.5 If a Guest wishes to cancel a Class booking, they must adhere to the specific cancellation windows tied to that Class format via their BSPORT account:

  • Reformer Class Cancellation: All Reformer Classes have a 12-hour cancellation window prior to the start time of the Class. 
  • Mat/Barre Class Cancellation: All Mat/Barre Classes have a 4-hour cancellation window prior to the start time of the Class. 

If a booking is canceled prior to these deadlines, the unused Credit will be returned to the Guest’s account for future use. Cancellations made outside of these windows will result in the forfeiture of the Class Credit. For Guests holding an Unlimited Membership, late cancellations or no-shows will result in penalty charges as detailed in Article 7.5. All penalty charges will be deducted automatically from the Guest’s saved payment method.

6.6 Bookings made via third-party partners must adhere to the cancellation criteria of that specific partner platform. The Studio cannot alter bookings made through partner platforms.

Arriving at The Studio

6.7 Guests must arrive punctually. The Studio has a 5 minute late entry policy. Guests arriving more than 5 minutes after the start time of a Class cannot join a Class. Late arrivals will result in the loss of the applied Credit and does not entitle the Guest to a refund or to transfer their booking to an alternative Class.

6.8 The Studio opens 15 minutes before the start time of a Class. Guests arriving more than 15 minutes before their prebooked class start time will not be permitted to enter the studio until 15 minutes before the class start time.

First-Time Attendees

6.9 Guests attending The Studio for the first time are strongly advised to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start time of their booked Class to facilitate a proper introduction to The Studio and equipment.

Schedule Modifications and Force Majeure

6.10 The Studio is entitled to adjust the Class schedule and/or locations at any time without providing reasons. The most current schedules are published on the Website.

6.11 The Studio reserves the right to cancel a Class if there is insufficient registration prior to the commencement of the Class. In such instances, any Credit charged will be fully returned to the Guest’s account.

6.12 Extraordinary circumstances (Force Majeure) release The Studio from its operational obligations. In the event of continuing Force Majeure, The Studio is released from its obligation to fulfill the agreement.

6.13 If a Guest causes significant inconvenience or nuisance that hinders the proper execution of a Class, The Studio may immediately exclude them from the Class. Any resulting costs will be borne entirely by the Guest.

 

Article 7 – Credits & Memberships

Credits

7.1 Each collection of Credits specifies the number of Classes a Guest may attend during the Participation Period. Unused Credits will expire automatically at the end of the term.

7.2 One Credit entitles the Guest to participate in one corresponding Class. Reformer Class Credits are strictly valid for Reformer Classes only.

Memberships

7.3 A Member may temporarily suspend (freeze) an active Membership for a maximum of four (4) one-week periods within a 52-week (1 year) timeframe. During a suspension, the Member cannot book or attend Classes. Suspension requests must be submitted via email to admin@studio191.nl.

7.4 Members acknowledge that they enter into the Membership for an agreed minimum term, beginning on the date of the purchase of the first month.

7.5 The Studio offers the Memberships listed below, subject to minimum commitment periods. Following the minimum commitment period, Memberships automatically renew on a monthly basis until canceled by the Member.

Unlimited Monthly Membership

  • Access: Unlimited access to all Class styles across all Studio 191 and The Cosmos locations.
  • Daily Limit: Maximum of 1 Class booking per day.
  • Guest Policy: Personal use only; no bring a guest included.
  • Price: Refer to current Website rates.
  • Minimum Commitment: 3 consecutive months from the date of purchase.
  • Membership Cancellation: After the initial 3 months, cancellation requires 1 full calendar month’s notice processed via the BSPORT account.
  • Class Cancellation & Penalty Charges: Reformer Classes have a 12 hour cancellation window as detailed in Article 6.5. Late cancellations will incur a €10.00 penalty charge; No-shows will incur a €15.00 penalty charge. Mat/Barre Classes have a 4 hour cancellation window as detailed in Article 6.5. Late cancellations will incur a €10.00 penalty charge; No-shows will incur a €15.00 penalty charge. Medical emergencies may be appealed with documentation within 48 hours to guests@studio191.nl.

Unlimited Annual Membership

  • Access: Unlimited access to all Class formats across all Studio 191 and The Cosmos locations.
  • Daily Limit: Maximum of 1 Class booking per day.
  • Guest Policy: Personal use only; no bring a guest included.
  • Price: Refer to current Website rates.
  • Minimum Commitment: 12 consecutive months from the date of purchase.
  • Cancellation: After 12 months, the Membership converts to a monthly recurring plan. Cancellation requires 1 full calendar month’s notice via the BSPORT account.
  • Penalty Fees: Reformer Classes require 12 hours’ notice (late cancel: €10.00; no-show: €15.00). Mat/Barre Classes require 4 hours’ notice (late cancel: €10.00; no-show: €15.00).

Everything 12 Membership

  • Access: 12 Classes per month across any format and location.
  • Price: Refer to current Website rates.
  • Guest Policy: Members may use their existing Credits to bring a guest (maximum 5 times per month) by booking a concurrent spot.
  • Rollover: Unused Credits roll over for a maximum of 1 month, provided the Membership remains active.
  • Cancellation: Requires 1 month’s notice via the BSPORT account. Unused Credits expire at the end of the final billing cycle.

RiseTo5 Membership

  • Access: 8 monthly Classes, restricted to morning and daytime scheduling up to and including the 17:00 Class (Weekdays only; excludes Reformer and Prenatal/Postnatal).
  • Price: Refer to current Website rates.
  • Rollover: Unused Credits roll over for a maximum of 1 month, provided the Membership remains active.
  • Cancellation: Requires 1 month’s notice via the BSPORT account. Unused Credits expire at the end of the final billing cycle.

Reformer10 Membership

  • Access: 10 Reformer Classes per month.
  • Price: Refer to current Website rates.
  • Guest Policy: Members may use their existing Credits to bring a guest (maximum 5 times per month) by booking a concurrent spot.
  • Rollover: Unused Credits roll over for a maximum of 1 month, provided the Membership remains active.
  • Cancellation: Requires 1 month’s notice via the BSPORT account. Unused Credits expire at the end of the final billing cycle.

Monthly8 Membership

  • Access: 8 Classes per month (excludes Reformer Classes).
  • Price: Refer to current Website rates.
  • Guest Policy: Members may use their existing Credits to bring a guest (maximum 5 times per month) by booking a concurrent spot.
  • Rollover: Unused Credits roll over for a maximum of 1 month, provided the Membership remains active.
  • Cancellation: Requires 1 month’s notice via the BSPORT account. Unused Credits expire at the end of the final billing cycle.

Oost Unlimited Off-Peak Membership

  • Access: Unlimited access to Studio 191 Oost Classes only, between 07:00 and 17:00, 7 days a week.
  • Daily Limit: Maximum of 1 Class booking per day.
  • Guest Policy: Personal use only; no bring a guest included.
  • Price: Refer to current Website rates.
  • Minimum Commitment: 2 consecutive months.
  • Cancellation: After the initial 2 months, cancellation requires 1 full calendar month’s notice via the BSPORT account.
  • Penalty Fees: All Classes require a 4-hour cancellation window (late cancel: €5.00; no-show: €10.00).

Membership Fees & Policies

7.6 All stated prices are inclusive of VAT. The Studio is authorized to adjust its rates at any time in the event of statutory changes to VAT without prior notice.

7.7 Members are obligated to clear any outstanding balances prior to Membership termination. Non-compliance will result in two (2) official written warnings, followed by the engagement of an external collection agency. The Studio may deny access and suspend Memberships until all debts are settled.

7.8 Memberships are strictly personal and cannot be transferred without written permission from The Studio via admin@studio191.nl.

7.9 The Studio reserves the right to request official identification from Members at any time on the premises.

7.10 Membership fees must be paid in advance using SEPA Direct Debit, a valid Credit Card, or an official payment link.

7.11 A processing fee of €10.00 will be automatically debited for any ‘Disputed Payments’ or chargebacks initiated by the Member.

7.12 The Studio reserves the right to proactively collect overdue payments.

7.13 If a payment is rejected, the Member will receive an automated reminder. Should payment remain outstanding, two official warnings will be issued before escalating to a collection agency.

7.14 If The Studio engages a collection agency, the Member is liable for administrative charges and extrajudicial collection costs in accordance with statutory scales. Access to The Studio will be revoked until the debt is settled.

7.15 Membership Cancellation: Members can only cancel after their minimum commitment period has expired. Cancellation requires one (1) full month’s notice processed via the BSPORT online portal. Verbal cancellations at The Studio are not accepted. Once a Membership is purchased and utilized, it is strictly non-refundable.

 

Article 8 – Account Termination

8.1 Guests may delete their digital accounts via the Website or Application at any time. Note: Deleting an account does not cancel an active Membership. To cancel a Membership, Members must process it online or contact admin@studio191.nl.

8.2 In cases of prolonged illness, injury, or pregnancy, a Guest Account may be temporarily suspended or terminated upon submission of a formal medical certificate.

8.3 The Studio reserves the right to terminate a Guest Account with immediate effect if:

  • The Guest engages in behavior deemed unacceptable by The Studio management.
  • The Guest systematically violates The Studio’s House Rules or these Guest Conditions.
  • A third party utilizes the Guest’s account or credentials due to negligence or explicit permission.

8.4 In the event of national restrictions or government mandates prohibiting the operation of fitness facilities, The Studio may impose a collective suspension on all active Memberships for an indefinite duration. Affected Members will be notified digitally.

8.5 If government restrictions limit but do not completely prohibit operations, The Studio reserves the right to maintain active Memberships and provide modified services.

8.6 Memberships cannot be suspended retroactively under any circumstances.

8.7 During a suspension, a Member’s payment obligations will be deferred. The termination date of the Membership contract will be extended by the exact duration of the suspension.

Article 9 – Risk & Liability

9.1 The use of The Studio facilities for Classes, training, or activities of any kind is undertaken entirely at the Guest’s own risk and responsibility.

9.2 The Guest is strictly obligated to inform The Studio and its instructors of their physical condition (such as injuries, illnesses, or pregnancy) prior to the commencement of any Class. The Guest bears sole responsibility for safely participating in Classes.

9.3 The Studio and its employees, agents, and directors are not liable for material and/or immaterial damage resulting from accidents or injuries sustained by Guests and/or third parties on the premises, except in cases where such damage is the direct result of intent or gross negligence by The Studio management.

9.4 The Studio accepts no liability for the damage, loss, or theft of personal property belonging to Guests or third parties.

9.5 Guests are financially liable for any damage caused to The Studio property resulting from their own negligence or fault.

9.6 The exclusions and limitations of liability outlined in this article also apply to the benefit of The Studio’s subordinates, contractors, and affiliates.

9.7 Valuables and Personal Property: Guests acknowledge that bringing valuables into The Studio is done at their own risk. The Studio shall not be liable for the loss of, theft of, or damage to personal property left in lockers, bathrooms, Practice Rooms, or common areas. Guests acknowledge that Membership fees do not encompass the safeguarding of personal valuables.

9.8 By agreeing to these Guest Conditions, the Guest also explicitly agrees to the terms set forth in The Studio’s Guest Liability Waiver & Release, which forms an integral part of the Guest Agreement.

 

Article 10 – Personal Data and Privacy Policy

10.1 Each Guest acknowledges that they must provide certain Personal Data to The Studio (e.g., name, age, address, email address). This data is treated as strictly confidential and utilized primarily for administrative purposes.

10.2 Personal Data is processed for the performance of the Guest Agreement and strictly in accordance with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) / Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming (AVG). The Studio will delete Guest data upon formal written request.

10.3 The Studio may capture photographs or video recordings within The Studio spaces for marketing and social media purposes. By entering the premises, Guests consent to the potential use of such media. Guests who wish to opt out must submit a formal written request to hello@studio191.nl.

10.4 By agreeing to these Guest Conditions, the Guest consents to receive marketing communications and offers via email. Guests may unsubscribe from these communications at any time.

10.5 Data Subject Rights: Guests maintain the right to view, correct, or delete their Personal Data. Guests may also withdraw their consent for data processing, object to specific processing activities, or exercise their right to data portability. Requests regarding GDPR rights should be directed to admin@studio191.nl.

Article 11 – Complaints

11.1 A Guest must report any formal complaint regarding the services of The Studio, its instructors, or the hosting team as soon as practically possible, and no later than fourteen (14) days after the incident or defect was observed. Complaints must be submitted via email to admin@studio191.nl, detailing the location, date, and a clear description of the issue.

11.2 Complaints must be complete and clearly described to allow The Studio adequate opportunity to investigate and respond appropriately.

Article 12 – Governing Law and Jurisdiction

12.1 These Guest Conditions and all legal relationships between The Studio and the Guest are governed exclusively by Dutch law.

12.2 Any disputes arising from or relating to these Guest Conditions or agreements entered into with The Studio shall be submitted exclusively to the competent court in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
